Participatory Development Associates
Participatory Development Associates is a Ghanaian organization committed to supporting processes of empowerment and self-determination in communities, organizations and individuals. Founded in 2001, PDA is a private limited liability company that works nationally, with its main office in Kumasi and a sub-office in Accra.

PDA’s vision is of a world where communities and organizations can provide an enabling environment in which all people, regardless of sex, race, ethnicity, age or disability, can realise their full potential and contribute their best to the common good.

PDA’s mission is to work with communities, organizations and individuals to facilitate the participation of all people within their community/organization by empowering them to take greater control over their own lives and determine their own destiny

Webhouse Systems
Webhouse Systems has developed a concept of a development tool that is the African approach to learning. This comes across to the OCB program as a small but potentially ground-breaking approach to change and development.

This concept falls upon OD concepts and principles that will enable the African mindset and culture to be worked with in more effective ways in carrying out development interventions. It will further seek to train people to work with that approach.

HopeSpring runs three broad programs being, The Small Business Centre, which provides need-based integrated services such as training, advisory services, development of business linkages and market access; The Leadership Institute for Community Transformation, which involves a Self-help Facilitator Development program and a Youth Leadership Development program; and The HopeSpring Organizational Development and Training program, which focuses on participatory learning and OD approaches to organization strengthening.

WISE
WISE is a Ghanaian women’s rights organization that advocates for and provides support to women and children survivors of violence. The vision of WISE is to break the cycle of violence and sexual assault for women and children by simultaneously tackling root causes of gender based violence and responding to gender-based violence. WISE works in cooperation with their partners and clients to develop culture-specific and community-based solutions.

WISE is currently developing an Institute for Empowerment and Leadership Development (WIELD). WIELD is a uniquely designed initiative to develop leadership qualities in young African women through training and linkages with professional women who have the rich experience necessary to influence society and inspire and empower the younger generation. A key department within WIELD will be a Center of Excellence in OD and Leadership Development.

Women’s Initiative for Empowerment and Leadership Development WIELD
The WIELD Foundation is designed to prepare, promote and support African women and girls in achieving leadership positions within business and politics. Despite improvements in African women’s status, the majority of women lack access to leadership opportunities and resources. These limitations result in the formation of policies that often perpetuate cycles of dependency that leave many women vulnerable to physical abuse, discrimination, poverty and HIV/AIDS.

WIELD was formed in 2004 to develop approaches that advance opportunities for women and school-going girls, by improving their knowledge and skills along with helping them gain experience needed to obtain leadership positions. It will run three core initiatives, which are aimed at bringing greater visibility and equality to African women by involving over 1,000 senior and junior fellows, mentors, leadership summit participants and conference participants with interests and experience in business, politics, mentoring and community advocacy.

WIELD was formed out of experiences of the Women’s Initiative for Self-Empowerment, (WISE). WISE is a non-profit organization that responds to increased reports of violence against women and children.
